That hasn't stopped Microsoft spending $19 billion in FY24 Q4, so they must be hopeful. Meanwhile, at Black Hat USA 2024, a presentation exploring some vulnerabilities in Copilot should make all Microsoft 365 tenants with Copilot consider how to secure their organization better.

Block Copilot Access to Individual Office Documents https://practical365.com/block-access-to-content-services/ https://practical365.com/block-access-to-content-services/#comments Mon, 24 Jun 2024 10:00:00 +0000 https://practical365.com/?p=61082 A new sensitivity label setting blocks access to content services for Office applications. In effect, this stops any feature that depends on the ability to send content to Microsoft for processing, including Copilot for Microsoft 365, DLP, text prediction, and so on. It's a precise item-level block that protects sensitive documents from being consumed and used by Copilot in the text that it generates.

Microsoft 365 Archive Could Help SharePoint Online Cope with Digital Debris https://practical365.com/microsoft-365-archive-copilot/ https://practical365.com/microsoft-365-archive-copilot/#comments Mon, 20 May 2024 10:00:00 +0000 https://practical365.com/?p=60885 Microsoft 365 Archive is a solution to move SharePoint Online sites from hot to cold (less expensive) storage. It works well, and it comes with an added benefit in that archived sites are inaccessible to Copilot. In other words, you can make sure that Copilot doesn't process old and obsolete material by archiving sites that contain this type of content. Seems like a no-brainer.

Restricted SharePoint Search is The Legacy of Previous Microsoft Collaboration Strategies https://practical365.com/restricted-sharepoint-search/ https://practical365.com/restricted-sharepoint-search/#comments Tue, 30 Apr 2024 10:00:00 +0000 https://practical365.com/?p=60689 Microsoft has been forced to introduce restricted SharePoint search to allow customers to deploy Copilot for Microsoft 365 projects without worrying that Copilot will find and reuse information from across the entire tenant. It's a sad legacy of previous Microsoft collaboration strategies, notably the decision to allow users to create groups without hindrance.

Microsoft Drops Copilot Restrictions https://practical365.com/removal-copilot-for-microsoft-365-restrictions/ https://practical365.com/removal-copilot-for-microsoft-365-restrictions/#comments Mon, 15 Jan 2024 23:37:42 +0000 https://practical365.com/?p=60329 In a January 15 announcement, Microsoft says that they have removed the previous restrictions that applied to purchases of Copilot for Microsoft 365 licenses. Office 365 E3 and E5 tenants can now buy and deploy Copilot and the requirement to buy a minimum of 300 licenses is gone. Suddenly, 2024 has become much more interesting from an AI perspective for many Office 365 tenants.
