New esoteric book club on Plutonica.net
By Psyche | January 25, 2010

Plutonica.net has always had a special focus on books and occult publishing in amidst the links and commentary on occulture.
We’ve now taken that a step further by creating a dedicated space to tackle one book a month with the Plutonica.net Esoteric Book Club.
What’s the deal?
I’ve created an About page for the book club with more info on the history of the idea and how it came about, but here’s the gist:
The Plutonica.net Esoteric Book Club isn’t just another general occult forum. It’s a space dedicated to esoteric and occult literature and what people do with it.
It tackles the same themes our blog is focused on: philosophy, spirituality, magick and occulture, with a little biography and occult lit tossed in for good measure.
The real focus will be on engaging in what we’re reading, as we’re reading it. Sharing thoughts, asking questions, hopefully going deeper into material together than we might have the opportunity otherwise, alone.
How it will work
We’ll gather suggestions a month or so beforehand in Recommendations, vote on what we’d like to tackle next, then start the process over again.
If you already have a Plutonica.net username and password you can log in using the same ID for the forums. If not, registration is very simple.
First pick
The first pick is Quantum Psychology: How Brain Software Programs You and Your World, by Robert Anton Wilson.
We’ll start officially in February, but the forums are open and ready for use now.
How you participate
You can dig out your already dog-eared copy and comment as you re-read it, or purchase it from your local occult shop, local independent bookstore, from or from Amazon.com, etc.1
Read along, do the exercises, ask questions, comment on others, share insights and discuss the material.
Your thoughts?
So, what do you think? Are you interested in participating?
Special thanks to Cole Tucker, Mister Brent, Jack Faust and Freeman for their suggestions and recommendations during beta testing, and to all the people who voted in the first poll and selected our first pick.
Popularity: 5%
Footnotes:
- Books purchased from links on Plutonica.net receive a (very) small referral fee which will go towards paying for things like hosting and site maintenance. [back]

I’m looking forward to this read! The exercises RAW presents have a much greater group bias than Prometheus Rising, so it really feels perfect to start the club off with.
It’s one of the few books by RAW my husband owns which I haven’t yet read, so I’m looking forward to it, too.
It’s one of my favourites – and I agree, it’s an excellent selection for starting off with.
Have you considered posting an alert in any of the Discordian communities? Perhaps even Bulldada?
I feel a little weird posting on forums about something happening elsewhere if I’m not a regular member myself, but I would certainly appreciate any help you (or anyone, really) could offer in that regard. (Thanks for posting to the Digimob forums!) It’s an excellent idea, especially if people are already inclined to read RAW or esoterica in general.
I’ll check out Bulldada, I wasn’t familiar with it before, but it looks like a neat resource.
Pass the link along to friends who may be interested, too, if you get a chance. It’s always great to meet new people through books. :)
