Update: 2008 Sexiest Occultist Alive winner is dead

Kara Rae Garland (Soror Ceilede)On Wednesday Plutonic.net nominated occulture’s darling Kara Rae Garland for the The Galloway Chronicles‘ 2008 Sexiest Occultist Alive competition.

Late yesterday, following several embarassing scandals amongst their top judges, the winners were announced. Not Kara.  (She’s fine.)

Mongolian Shaman Zorigtbaatar Banzar won the men’s competition for his “Devil-may-care sense of personal style”, and quite frankly it’s difficult to argue that.

However,  Annie Besant winning the women’s competition?  Sure she’s cute, but I’d like to see a more current picture before making that call.  Necrophilia amongst the judges the next scandal to break? Hold your breath.

That said, Kara did come in as the 2008 Runner-up with the following comments:

Occult Accomplishments: The first second-generation chaote we’ve ever heard of. Also writes.

What Put Her Over The Top: Apparent well-adjustedness.

Oh, if only they knew…

Check The Galloway Chronicles’ Sexiest Occultist Alive* 2008: OFFICIAL WINNERS for full details and pictures of the (fixed!) winners.

Congratulations Kara, you’re still #1 in my book, baby! (See poorly photoshopped picture above.)

I must admit I think Besant is an excellent choice! Sorry to Kara but Besant is a much more famous and influential occultist. Sexy…well she wasn’t too bad looking in general.

Psyche reply on July 31st, 2008:

Ah, you’re simply infatuated with all things Theosophical at the moment. They could have announced Blavatsky (!) and you’d cheer.

Besides, famous and influential were not presented as judging criteria: the title of the contest is Sexiest Occutlist, which precludes corpses in my books (unless they’re, you know, really hot ‘n stuff).

How ’bout that Mongolian shaman, though? Colourful guy…

John L. Crow reply on July 31st, 2008:

HA! No I am not enfatuated with all things Theosophical and if Blavatsky was chosen, I would not be supportive.

As for being dead precludes inclusion - it was your post I read first that said dead or alive. So it is too late to cry foul on the dead part.

As forthe shaman, he does not do it for me. But to each their own.
