Plutonica.net guest blogger Brendan Cathbad Myers, author of six books to date, has a new book coming out July 25th, 2008 from O-Books. Its full title is: The Other Side of Virtue: Where Our Virtues Come From, What They Really Mean, and Where They Might Be Taking Us (pictured left).

His first book, Dangerous Religion, has been described as “a “thought-opera” of spiritual contemplations on Neo-Pagan and environmental themes”, where Mysteries of Druidry focused specifically on Druid spirituality.

From the description for The Other Side of Virtue:

Using ancient heroic epics and sagas like Beowulf, the Illiad and Odyssey, the Eddas, the Tain Bo Cuailnge, and literature inspired by them including the works of the Renaissance and Romanticism, Shakespeare, Tolkien, and J.K. Rowling, this book explains the world-view that gave birth to our virtues. In that world-view, life involves inevitable confrontations with inexplicable events like fortune, nature, other people, and death itself. However, the good life itself becomes possible when we face them and respond to them. Finally, the book calls for a revival of heroic and classical Virtue in our time.

While the book doesn’t come out for a little over a week, you can pre-order it from Amazon.com, or request it from your local independent bookstore.  A review copy is on its way, so a review will appear here some time in the coming weeks.

In the meantime you can read Brendan’s essay “[cref 235]” here.
