The Equation Bookshelf by estudio breder.
An innovative new way to categorize books, rather than the standard alphabetical by author1 or title, or even, as Neatorama.com points out, by colour, estudio breder has provided a shelf capable of categorizing by priority. From the blog:
‘Equation Bookshelf’ is a simple idea of to divide things in priority order… put together the books that you need immediately or more important between (parentheses)! Set others between [square brackets] and {braces}.
Maybe today a beautiful flowerpot will be the most important thing! Tomorrow a portrait of a girlfriend and so on… A different and funny way to organize your objects!
The pedantic bibliophile in me is at odds with the quirky geek. Its novelty is incredibly appealing.
Strangely, it reminds me of Thout Deisgn’s UtiliTILE: Forked Up, a wonderfully bizarre cutlery storage method.
I can’t think of a single kitchen I know that this look would suit, but how much fun would it be to stab the walk after doing the dishes? It could almost make the chore fun.
But how long until the novelty wears off, and you’re stuck with awkwardly shaped shelves, and a wall that looks like it should belong in JTHM’s shack?
